Dr. Pratim Datta is a two-time Farris Family Research Innovation Award winner and a tenured Professor of Digital Transformation and Cybersecurity at Kent State University. He is also a Senior Research Scientist at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa.

An internationally ranked researcher, Dr. Datta has over 70 journal articles and conference proceedings with multiple best paper nominations and awards. Pratim received the Outstanding MBA Professor Award in 2009 and he was the 2012 highlighted professor for the Executive MBA Program. He is the winner of the 2014 Annual Paul Pfeiffer teaching award and the 2017 University President's Faculty Excellence Award.

Prior to joining academia, Dr. Datta worked as a corporate strategy consultant for IBM Global Services, SAP and Price Waterhouse Coopers.

Dr. Datta is interested in researching Technology Management, Cyber Security and Corporate Strategy Decision-Making as a combination of analysis and strategy. He is particularly interested in ERP Systems and BPR (Business Process Reengineering) as an Integrated Value-Addition strategy. He has published in the Information Systems Journal (ISJ), Journal of Information Technology (JIT), European Journal of Information Systems (EJIS), Journal of Knowledge Management (JKM), Journal of Supply chain Management (JSCM), Communications of the ACM (CACM), among others.

Pratim has served as a keynote speaker at the Timken Co's YPR roundtable on Business Analytics at Timken. He has also been an opening and closing session speaker for the PMI (Project Management Institute) on Risk Assessment Analytics and Leadership.

Dr. Pratim Datta teaches the in the PhD, MBA and Corporate and Healthcare Executive MBA (EMBA) programs in the Graduate School of Management.

With over 11 sole-inventions and patent applications, Dr. Datta is an avid inventor. He and his E-Voting process invention were featured on Fox8 news in April-May 2013.

Pratim also runs an Innovation and Strategy Consulting Company. He loves photography, travel and art. He also collects historical WWII firearms. He particularly enjoyed traveling and has travelled to over 35 countries in the world.

Apart from serving as a faculty and a researcher, Dr. Pratim Datta is passionate about travel, art collection, creative design, and photography. Dr. Datta has designed bookmarks and posters for the department. His solo photography has been exhibited at the Hudson, Stow-Munroe Falls, Twinsburg, Medina, and Highland Public Libraries. His photos have also been displayed in New York and Baltimore and published in The Smithsonian. He lives in Hudson, Ohio.
